Solace Davis:

Motto A problem and a solution are different sides of the same coin.

Personal My name is Solace Love Davis and I am an Electrical Engineering student at Georgia Tech. As far as what my parents tell me, I was born an engineer. My ambition is to use my skills in engineering to help under-resourced areas through sustainable device and energy solutions.

Scholar I was homeschooled most of my life providing me a level of diversity and uniqueness of worldview that served as the foundation of my scholarship. I’ve had a relatively small amount of standardized schooling. This has allowed a high degree of self direction in applied engineering concepts.

Musician I am a self-taught guitarist that developed the ability to play songs by ear, starting around the age of 14. This new found talent served as the impetus for my foray into music theory. It opened up a whole new world of fascination for me when I realized that pleasing and inspirational sound is the product of a diverse variety of sonic components. This is to say when I realized that music composition is ultimately mechanical engineering I was hooked. I went on to produce original music and scores for my various audiovisual projects.

Visual Artist I am a producer of 3D art and animation. I am also a drone and sport videographer. I spend a good bit of time exploring then nexus of technology and imagery.

Martial Artist I have desired to be a black belt in martial combat since I can remember. It’s been a lifelong pursuit. Recently I achieved first dan black belt status in Tae Kwon Do Jidokwon under 7th Dan Grand Master Issac Thomas and 9th Dan Great Grandmaster Yo Jin Kim. Great Grandmaster Yo Jin Kim is the oldest living 9th Dan in the world. Tae Kwon Do has taught me dedication and discipline and the responsibility that comes with the finality of martial combat and self-defense.

Humanitarian I plan to use my engineering skills to improve my community and the world. I envision working in solar technology to improve access to power around the world. Locally, I have already started benefiting my community through land clearing, home building and restoration.

Ga Tech Engineer I was accepted into Georgia Tech in 2023 and have been there for about a year now. My academic track is a bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering. After completing these degrees I plan to attend law school with a focus on using technology to make the world more equitable.
